8.1.3 Water Holding Capacity of the Soil
The water storage capacity of the soil determines, for ions that are not or only slightly sorbed to the solid phase,
  • how much nutrient can be stored in a given soil layer at a specific solution concentration, and
  • furthermore, how far the nutrients in that soil layer are transported downwards from the soil surface given the same net percolation.
