7.2 Analysis of Plants
Plant analysis a diagnostic tool to determine the concentration of essential nutrients in plant tissues. The goal is to assess the plant's nutritional status, diagnose deficiencies or toxicities, and guide fertilizer management for optimal growth, yield, and quality. It's often used alongside soil testing for a complete picture (soil = supply, plant = actual uptake).
Main Methods of Analysis
  • Tissue Testing in the laboratory with quantitative (flame photometer, spctral photometer, ICP- OES, ....) and semi-quantitative methods like Sap Testing (Rapid Tests)
  • biophysical measurments
  • Visual Deficiency Symptoms
